We are fundraising toward a grant that will match us up to $100,000 to build a new intake facility on our property. This is in thanks to the generous opportunity afforded to us by the Cass County Community Foundation and the $5 million from Lilly Endowment Inc. through the Community Leadership Implementation Grants component of the eighth phase of its Giving Indiana Funds for Tomorrow (GIFT VIII) initiative.
An intake facility would allow the Cass County Humane Society to solve a fundamental issue that continues to hinder our progress toward better animal care. Our plans to build an intake facility onto our property will allow us more space to take in more canines and felines brought through our doors. A separate facility is important for many reasons. It allows us to safely intake animals who will need to be properly vetted before entering into general population within our shelter walls. It would allow us to safely house animals who are temporarily in our care while waiting for their owners to pick them up, giving us easy access to transport them. Additionally, this extra space would allow us to create new spaces that can accommodate for our ever-changing needs.
More space = more room = more possibilities!
The grant will match us up to $100,000, and we are going for the full amount!
Our fundraising efforts will run from February 15 – March 15, 2025. All funds intended for this giving effort must be dated and/or received by March 15.
